General Questions

What types of services does Redbird offer?
Redbird Media & Design is a full-service design and media strategy company. If you can describe it, chances are we can do it. Our most popular services include newsletters, brochures, logos, web sites, ads and sales collateral, billboards, photography, illustration, writing and media strategy consultation.
What do you charge for your services?
The cost of our design, writing and media consultation services varies by project, depending on your unique needs, timetable and budget. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote and let us put Redbird's experience and creativity to work for you.
Can you do rush jobs?
Yes, but depending on your particular timetable and situation, an additional cost will be incurred. In general, rush jobs will add about 25 percent to a project's final cost.
Can I see my project as it progresses?
Certainly. We can email you copies of the design-in-progress or post it on our web server for you to view and download.
What formats will my final project be available in?
You tell us. We'll ask you beforehand, so that we make sure to optimize the design for the format requested. In general, we provide print designs as a jpeg, EPS or TIFF, but will convert them to whatever format you need. Animated designs for web sites will usually be gifs, but some more-involved animations might be delivered as swf files. Web sites can be uploaded to your server or sent to you on disk. We also offer customized web-hosting and maintenance services. Writing and editing projects will generally be provided in Microsoft Word, or the format of your choice.
What if I decide to cancel the job?
Redbird Media & Design will bill you for the actual hours spent on your project up to the point of cancellation. Redbird will retain all copies of original writing, artwork and designs, as well as any applicable copyrights. You may restart the project at any time and, once the project is completed and full payment is made, you will be given all project-related files, as well as the copyright to your design.
Why should I use a professional design company instead of handling the work in-house?
Would you let that sweaty guy in the mailroom remove your gall bladder? Of course not. You'd go to a pro. (Well, wouldn't you?) That same consideration also applies to your design needs. A trained designer can help you defiine or redefine the look and feel — the very identity — of your organization. Professional designs can boost sales, increase membership, build brand awareness, or drive web traffic to your site. A professional design is an investment that will pay ongoing dividends. Let Redbird Media & Design customize a promotional package to exceed your expectations and fit within your budget.
What are the payment terms?
New clients will be charged a deposit of 25 percent of the estimated cost upon acceptance of the job, with the balance to be paid within 30 days of project completion. The deposit may be waived for existing clients.
How do I contact Redbird Media & Design?

What sorts of questions will you ask me when we meet to discuss our logo project?
  • When you think of your organization, what are the 4 or 5 key words that best describe it? (Some ideas: experienced, creative, strong, sophisticated).
  • What differentiates you from your competition?
  • How will you use the logo (print, web, both)?
  • What colors represent your organization? Do you have a standard palette that you already use? If not, would you like us to design one for you?
  • What sorts of typefaces do you like? (traditional, modern, script, block letters, Olde English? -- just kidding about that last one)
  • Do you want the logo to be strictly typographic? Or would you like an illustration or graphic integrated into the design?
Can you also design custom stationery and business cards using the new logo?

Web Design and Hosting Questions

How much does it cost to design a web site?
That's a hard question to answer because of all of the variables. We will meet with you to come up with a web site plan that meets your needs — and your budget. In general, each web page will cost anywhere from $100 to $500, but the costs can go even higher if you want custom animation, photography services, e-commerce applications or customized scripts written for your page. Before we start work, we provide you with a sketch of the site structure and a detailed cost estimate for the site.
How do I know I'll like the design you'll come up with?
After meeting with you to thoroughly discuss your needs, we'll come up with a basic design for a single page. It will show navigation bars, general layout, a color pallette and any graphics, photos or illustrations so that you can see exactly what it will look like. We can then discuss the design and fine-tune it to your satisfaction. Our aim is your complete satisfaction.
Can I view my web site design as it progresses?
Yes, at various points in the design process, we might post your site-in-progress on our Web server and ask you to have a look. You should also feel free to ask us to provide you with a sneak peek at any point in the project.
How many changes can I make to the site while it's in progress?
You can make unlimited changes to the design as the design develops. If your changes will result in an additional charge, we will secure your approval before starting work. If you want to make changes to the site after you have accepted the final design, you will incur our standard design charges ($50 per hour). If you think you'll be making frequent changes to the site, ask us about one of our affordable, custom Web hosting and maintenance plans.
Can you tell me more about web hosting and maintenance services you offer?
Certainly. We can host your site and keep it fresh and up-to-date at very reasonable rates. Web hosting and maintenance plans are available starting at just $50 per month. We will customize a package to meet your needs and budget.
Can you take care of my domain name registration?
